                       Even before Samsung had officially launched the Samsung Galaxy S4, there had been rumours that the company is working on a miniature version of this smartphone. The specifications and alleged pictures of Samsung Galaxy S4 mini have already leaked online.
                     
                       The existence of this smartphone has now been 'confirmed' via a listing on the Samsung Apps website. The listing has now been removed and did not divulge any information regarding the specification of Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.
         As per the past rumours, the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini will supposedly have a 4.3-inch qHD display. The smartphone is said to pack in an 8-megapixel camera and run on Android 4.2.2 out of the box along with a layer of Samsung's own Touch Wiz Nature UX. Connectivity options reportedly include 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and AGPS.
It is being touted that Samsung will launch Galaxy S4 mini in four variants. The first will be a single SIM phone that has the model number GT-I9190, which will come with a quad-core processor and support HSPA+. Samsung Galaxy S4 mini GT-I9192, on the other hand, is a dual-SIM variant which has a dual-core processor and also supports HSPA+. The Korean smartphone-maker will also be releasing Samsung Galaxy S4 mini GT-I9195, which will support LTE. Lastly, the model number GT-I9198 is for the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini that will be launched in China. This model is unlikely to be launched in other markets.
               Some news reports have suggested that Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S4 mini in the week starting July 15, 2013.

                So far there is no word on what will be the price of Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and whether it will be launched in India in the near future.
               
              It is noteworthy, that Samsung has announced that the company has managed to ship over 10 million units of its Samsung Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone. Apart from the mini version, there are already rumours floating around Samsung planning to launch a rugged version of Samsung Galaxy S4 that will allegedly be dubbed Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.

               The campaign song NaMo NaMo, essentially positioning Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the BJP's prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 elections, is a fusion of metal, rock and folk music. The concert will be held in Constitution Club on May 31.

              "Only those who are seriously interested in politics listen to political speeches. We have decided to take the campaign to the people through other things that touch their lives," said Tejendar Singh Bagga, a former BJP activist and founder of the community page Modi-Fying India, which is organising the event.

              The group had recently launched Modi T-shirts and is doing brisk business.


           "We are organising the rock concert to campaign for Narendra Modi's prime ministership," Bagga told Mail Today, adding that while the first song will be in Hindi, the group intends to subsequently launch one song each month in other vernacular languages, including Bhojpuri, Tamil and Bengali.

             Panchtarni Music in Exile, a Kashmiri rock band, will perform at the event, and two Kashmiri Pandit singers Rahul Tikoo and Ashish Bhat will launch the song, he said.

                   "This is a piece of fusion music, encompassing all these elements from metal, rock and folk, and is a very catchy one," said Rahul from Panchtarni that has already recorded the song at a studio in Gurgaon.

                    The group also has plans to launch the cover page of the comic on Modi as well as stickers saying, "I support Members of Kashmiri rock band Panchtarni Music."

              
          After the rocking Balam Pichkaari and Badtameez Dil, here's another sizzling number from Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The song is called Dilliwali Girlfriend and it brings in true Delhi flavour.

                    An estimated one million fresh cases of the disease - which causes body ache and fever - are reported in India each year. About 95 percent of the country's population resides in malaria endemic areas.

                    According to the World Malaria Report 2011, over 70 percent of the country's 1.2 billion population faces the risk of malaria infection, with an estimated 310 million people - one-third of the total - facing the "highest risk".

                    "The situation is very bad and it is an epidemic sort of issue. Malaria is quite rampant across the country, particularly in rural areas," S. Chatterjee, senior consultant, internal medicine, at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, told IANS.

                  Sandeep Budhiaraja, director (internal medicine) at Max Hospital, added: "The problem very much exists, and not just in the rural areas but also in major cities like Delhi. The situation is certainly very bad."

                  He said though the country has been effective in treating the disease with new medicine, the threat of plasmodium which causes the disease becoming resistant to new drugs remains.

                 "Even though the plasmodium became resistant to old conventional treatment, new drugs have been effective for now. But, we have seen in countries like Cambodia and Thailand, it has developed resistance. Though the type is different, threat remains that it may also develop some resistance," Budhiaraja said.

                   Echoing similar views, Chatterjee said most physicians no longer administer Chloroquine to patients as the plasmodium - P. falciparum - that causes the severe type of malaria has more or less developed resistance to the drug. He said the drug has only been effective in controlling the milder from of malaria.

                 The main vector of the disease in India is the female Anopheles Culicifacies, which is a small to medium sized mosquito. They usually breed in rainwater pools and puddles, burrow-pits, irrigation channels, seepages and sluggish streams. Extensive breeding is generally encountered following the monsoon.

                  Some experts, however, also say that investments in malaria control have yielded good returns in the past years.

               Manish Mohil, consultant (internal medicine) at Saket City Hospital, said even though the situation is not good, most hospitals and doctors are usually well equipped to handle malaria cases and only severe cases are reffered to speciality hospitals.

              "People are as much responsible as the government for not being able to curb the disease. The issue is that citizens don't take proper precautions even when they are more or less aware," Mohil told IANS.

               "In last five years, there has been a constant reduction in the number of malaria cases in the country. The number of cases has gradually come down from 2 million in 2001 to about 1.2 million in 2011," said a senior scientist at the National Institute of Malaria Research.

               Recent government data also shows a decline both in the number of malaria cases and related deaths.

              According to National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), over 1.5 million cases of malaria were reported in the country in 2009 and 2010. The figure fell to 1.3 million in 2011 and to 1 million in 2012. Till March 25 this year, 72,327 cases have been reported.

               Likewise, the number of malaria related deaths in the country in 2009 were 1,144 and came down to 1,018 in 2010. In 2011, the number further came down to 754, and to 506 in 2012. This year, till March 25, the number of deaths are only 18.

              However, in a clear contradiction to the government data, a 2011 study by Lancet stated that malaria actually killed an estimated 46,800 Indians in 2010. The country had over 10 crore suspected malaria cases but only 15.9 lakh could be confirmed in 2010, according to World Malaria Report 2011.

             Experts, however, say more needs to be done to completely check the disease.

             Towards this, the World Malaria Day celebrated on April 25, instituted by WHO during the 2007 World Health Assembly of 2007, aims to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment for malaria prevention and control.

               According to the World Malaria Report 2011, malaria is prevalent in 106 countries of the tropical and semi-tropical world, with 35 countries in central Africa bearing the highest burden of cases and deaths. Compared to a century earlier, the area of malaria risk has reduced from 53 percent to 27 percent of the earth's land surface, while the number of countries exposed to some level of malaria risk has fallen from 140 to 106.
     The number of deaths from malaria might be steadily declining, but health experts believe the mosquito sting continues to pose a grave threat to millions in the country.

                             Former Miss India Universe, Lara Dutta turns 35 years today. Born to Wing Commander L.K. Dutta (retired) and an Anglo-Indian mother Jennifer, Lara has two sisters, Sabrina, who serves in the Indian Air Force and younger sister Cheryl.

               Her family moved to Bangalore in 1981 where she completed high school from St.Francis Xavier Girls' High School and Frank Anthony Public School. Lara Dutta graduated in economics with a minor in communications from the University of Mumbai. She was crowned Femina Miss India Universe in 2000.

     





                     In September 2010, Lara Dutta announced her engagement with Tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi.


                   Lara and Mahesh tied the knot on February 16 at a civil ceremony in Bandra and later followed it by a Christian ceremony on 20 February 2011 in Goa.

              




            On August 1, 2011, Lara Dutta confirmed that she is pregnant with their first child.

    Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was tonight presented with N T Rama Rao National Film Award set up by the Andhra Pradesh government. 


     "I have no words to express my extreme gratitude for this very very warm welcome....I feel very honoured and very humbled to receive this recognition from Andhra Pradesh government," Amitabh Bachchan said after receiving the award from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.


                Extending greetings for Telugu New Year Ugadi and noting that he shared a lovely relationship with the late NTR, Bachchan said "many of his films we would remake in Hindi and many of our films were remade in Telugu." 


                  Cinema had been a great unifying factor for the country as it evokes the same emotions among all, the superstar said, adding Indian cinema will be celebrating a century of its existence next month, which was a matter of pride. 

               The other recipients of the award include popular Telugu heroes Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu.

                  
                   Automobile major Honda on Thursday launched its much-awaited sedan, Amaze, at a price range of Rs4.99 lakh to Rs7.60 lakh.

             The company's first diesel-run car, Amaze has been touted to be India's most fuel-efficient car with a mileage of 25.6 kilometres/ litre.

             The car has four diesel options (priced between Rs5.99-7.60 lakh) and six petrol options (priced between Rs4.99-7.50 lakh).

             While the diesel option of Amaze is powered by a 1.5-litre engine, the biggest in its segment, the petrol option has a 1.2-litre engine. The company claims that the 1.5-litre all aluminium diesel engine  will give a mileage of 25.8 km per litre.
             Besides, the manual transmission has a fuel economy of 18 km per litre and the automatic one is claimed to run 15.5 km per litre.
 
             The 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine will allow greater-comfort driving. The diesel engine will have Solenoid fuel injector, high-efficiency cooling system. The pistons will be narrower and shorter with environment friendly fuel system.

                   The interiors of the car have also been designed keeping in mind the comfort and space aspects. Honda has provided the Indian buyers with a bigger trunk space in the car.

                                      This man has seen it all. He’s faced some very tough times when it comes to life on reel and in real, and has now been able to stun his critics into silence. For with every single film that the dashing, scalding hot Randeep Hooda has taken up, he has delivered an ace. Be it a comatose script or one that kept one on tenterhooks all through, Hooda has performed his characters to the hilt – and continues to do so. His sheer hard work has resulted in the fact that he is almost omnipresent in the movie circuit now. From a few films in 2012 to more than half a dozen releases lined up this year, Randeep Hooda believes that he has received a new lease of life. In a candid chat with Ananya Bhattacharya of Zeenews.com, the actor spoke about his upcoming ‘Murder 3’ – his first release this year, women, love and a lot more. Snippets from the conversation:

                             We’ve seen the assassin (‘Jism 2’), the gangster (‘Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster’), the police officer with a history (‘One Upon A Time In Mumbai’), the police officer who drinks and uses cuss words (‘Jannat 2’)- and now, in ‘Murder 3’, too, the trailers suggest that there’s more to you than what meets the eye. Does the real Randeep Hooda revel in playing characters with shades of grey?

                            Yes… I feel such characters are more interesting. Human beings, in reality, are grey. According to me, these ‘real’ characters come across as more human, and therefore, more believable so to speak. For me, characters somehow can’t really be categorized as black or white or grey and so on. It is more to do with a journey that a person undertakes… that’s what a character is all about.

                          After ‘Jism 2’, ‘Jannat 2’ and ‘Heroine’ last year, you are almost ubiquitous this year. You have many films lined up this year, and you’re constantly being signed on for newer projects. Tell us what it all feels like.

                          It feels like I’ve received a new lease of life! The feeling is beautiful. For me and for the dreams that I’ve always dreamt – for all that I’ve always wanted to do – this feels really good.

                         We know that you’ve helped Aditi (Rao Hydari) and Sara (Loren) in being comfortable during the intimate scenes in ‘Murder 3’. Share some tips with us… how did you manage to do all that?

                       (Bursts into laughter) Well… I took Aditi and Sara out for lunches, dinners, drinks; became friends in the process; and made sure that they were able to relate to me as a co-worker who was going through the same thing as they were. Probably that is how the intimate scenes and the emotions involved therein came across as so bold and amazing.

                     Aditi or Sara – who would you say you were more comfortable working with?

                     I can’t really differentiate between them. And I feel it would be a bit unfair to both if I did. Both Aditi and Sara were different and special in their own way. They were both bold in different aspects. Aditi is more disciplined; she has a deep insight into various things and is intelligent. Sara has a beautiful spontaneity in herself; she is blessed with a certain kind of rawness.

                     Any female co-star you’d want to work with again?

                      (laughs) I feel I work more with directors and not co-stars!With so many films lined up and you are shooting for even more simultaneously, how much time are you able to devote to equestrianism these days?

                      I don’t get that much time now. But my horses are all doing well; they are being looked after really well. All of my horses are well groomed and are in perfect shape – so that whenever I get a bit of time, I can get back to them!

               You share an inarticulate bond with your horses and we know that in the past, you’ve gone out of your way to take care of them. Anything you’d want to say about that.

                     Yes… I have done all of that and still do, and will always continue to do so. The sport is a very satisfying and involving one, it’s a hobby that appeals strongly to me. I feel the sport and the animals take one much closer to nature; keeps one rooted and exposes all that have turned superfluous in our daily lives these days.

                   Coming back to ‘Murder 3’, this is the first time ever that a film of the ‘Murder’ franchise has been passed with a ‘U/A’ certificate. How far do you think that helps in getting rid of the stereotype of boldness that people usually associate a ‘Murder’ with?

                   To be honest, I’m shocked that the film has been passed with a ‘U/A’ certificate! There’s enough bold content in the film… the subject, the content, all of it – is pretty bold.

                  Let’s talk about your role in ‘Murder 3’

                   I play Vikram, a photographer sandwiched between two very beautiful women – and hanging on the edge of their lips – judge for yourself what a role it must be! (laughs) Here, the film is not exactly a character-driven one, but a slosh-driven one. However, it is very important to keep the mystery alive.

                  Randeep Hooda in real life: are you more of the proper ‘loverboy’, or the quintessential flirt or the kinds who kill love?

                 (Laughs) I guess I’m a bit of all of them, actually!

And since you are murdering ‘love’ this Valentine’s, a few tips on that art!

                  What we are murdering is the stereotypical concept of love, actually. The kinds where a boy and a girl meet, fall in love, get married and make babies – the straight, happy love. That doesn’t really happen in real life. In ‘Murder 3’, we are challenging the fairytale concept of love – and how things are not all happy and nice and blissful!

              Samsung's Galaxy S series smartphones have crossed the threshold of 100 million sales.

             In addition, the firm says that the Galaxy S3 is selling "at  much faster rate," smashing through the 1 million barrier in 50 days. Sales of the flagship Galaxy S3 reached 30 million units in 5 months, and 40 million in 7 months, with average daily sales of about 190,000 units. The Galaxy S2 is described as a steady bet after recording sales of over 40 million in 20 months. 

             Samsung calls the Galaxy series "the driving force" behind the electronics maker's "rise to the top" in the global smartphone market. The firm has estimated that overall sales will reach 56 trillion won ($52.6 billion) in its fourth-quarter results, to be announced on January 25. 

            It is undeniable that the Galaxy series is popular. According to new research, a number of the younger generation -- Generation Y, if you will -- are branding Samsung phones "cool" in comparison to Apple's offerings. If Samsung products are the ones to own these days, then the recently announced Galaxy S2 Plus, complete with Android's Jelly Bean operating system, might be the next model in line to surpass the company's sales records. 

          This news follows a number of announcements made by the South Korean company at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week, including Youm flexible displays and a new eight-core processor for mobile devices.

Mumbai:    Celebrity hair-stylist Sapna Bhavnani, who was evicted from the 6th edition of `Bigg Boss,` would have "wanted" cartoonist 
       Aseem Trivedi or Gulabi Gang leader Sampat Pal to have won the reality show.           Aseem, who was earlier arrested on charges of sedition for his cartoons, and Sampat Pal were evicted from the show in the initial days. They were known to be close to Sapna.

            "I thought that Alag Che (it`s different) was the concept and would have wanted one of my role models to win the show. I would have wanted either Aseem or Sampat to win," she said.

            Sapna, who was full of praises for the two, said, "Aseem is a youth icon and he will go a long way. Sampat is a strong lady and stands for her rights."

Sapna also voiced her personal views about Salman Khan on the show.

      "Salman is not God, neither am I. We have differences, he is the no 1 star, which doesn`t mean that I have to act with him in a certain way," she said.

          Currently, ex-couple Delnaaz Irani-Rajeev Paul, Sana Khan, Imam Siddique, Niketan Madhok and Urvashi Dholakia are part of the show vying for the `Bigg Boss` title. The finale will be held on January 12.

                Sapna felt that Rajeev, Delnaaz and Sana did not deserve to win the show, while Imam, Niketan and Urvashi were winners according to her.

           "The coalition between Sana, Rajeev and Delnaaz has brought them till here. I don`t think there is anything interesting about them. I don`t see anything good in them," she said.

"I would like Imam, Urvashi or Niketan to win the show," she added.  

               TheNextWeb reports that at least one iOS app developer has already spotted references to the next iPhone and iOS 7 in their app logs.

        One Developer showes us that Apple has been testing hardware relating to a new 'iPhone,1' identifier, powered by a device running iOS 7, which is expected to be released by Apple in the middle part of this year.             

        
                For reference, the current iPhone 5 carries an "iPhone5,1" and "iPhone5,2" identifiers. The specific entries were associated with Apple campus IP addresses, making it more likely they were legitimate entries.

            Apple first announced iOS 6 at WWDC 2012 in June. iOS 6 was then released to the public in September. The iPhone 5 was also launched in September 2012.

       There have been few hints about what might be expected in iOS 7 and the next generation iPhone, though there have been persistent rumors of Apple investigating the use of Near Field Communication for payments. Other rumors have suggested that the 2013 iPhone could arrive earlier than expected with a mid-year launch rather than later in the year.
